River: Locations

When filming all of the different scenes, the importance of the locations used was vital, as it added to the mood of the film, while also affecting the conditions we were filming in.

Twinbrook

Most of the outdoor shots were shot on the streets and paths of Twinbrook. This was a great locations for various different reasons. Firstly, it was quite empty for the most part, so we were able to get scenes done efficiently. If someone did walk by, however, it didn't look out of place, as the world of river is only on top of the real world, meaning the living can still be seen. Also, it is a great mix of industrialism and nature. This contrast displays the theme of opposites extremely well, which is important as our film revolves around the contrast of life and death.

Interview room

We shot the interview scene in a small room in our school, Rathmore. this room was perfect for a couple reasons. For one, it was scattered with motivational posters and mind-maps, which was a nice edge of visual comedy. Also, the room was bright, warm and cramped, which paired well with the nervous atmosphere we implemented through the dialogue.

Amy's House

This was another great location for our film. The house itself looked cozy and homey, which is an aspect we wanted to tie in with the theme of reminiscence, yet the house was also winding and slow to move around in, which helped to build tension and contribute to the sombre regretful atmosphere.

Lagmore

This was an important location to the film. It had to be beautiful and have a large view, as the last scene of our film was Kevin's last view of earth. The rainy conditions also helped, as the pathetic fallacy suggested a melancholic mood. Furthermore, the naturalistic surroundings helped to illustrate the importance of life, one of the more important morals of our film.
