River: A2 Media

When finished up the film, I thought I should showcase the final draft of the script that the actors used. After all the research I did, I learned the basics of script-writing, then as time went on, I tweaked it slightly bit after bit, to perfect the screenplay. Here is the finished product: Although some was improvised at the time of filming, I'm still proud of this script and think I did a good job in portraying the characters in a realistic fashion while also pushing the plot along.

When filming all of the different scenes, the importance of the locations used was vital, as it added to the mood of the film, while also affecting the conditions we were filming in. Twinbrook M ost of the outdoor shots were shot on the streets and paths of Twinbrook. This was a great locations for various different reasons. Firstly, it was quite empty for the most part, so we were able to get scenes done efficiently. If someone did walk by, however, it didn't look out of place, as the world of river is only on top of the real world, meaning the living can still be seen. Also, it is a great mix of industrialism and nature. This contrast displays the theme of opposites extremely well, which is important as our film revolves around the contrast of life and death. On this day, we filmed the end of River as well as re-filming a few shots that were affected by the weather. A few of the shots after the title sequence were greatly affected by hailstones, as the lens got steamed up and it was difficult for the actors to perform to the highest of their ability. Yet as we approached the summer months, the days last longer, meaning we could re-film some of the shots after school before it got dark. These turned out to be some of the best shots in the film, as it was a clear, mild and calm day, making for detailed and professional looking shots. Although these contrasted slightly to the original shots that were in place, Aaron was able to fix this with some minor colour corrections. Yet this good weather didn't last long, as when we started to film the final scene, the rain started. However, this was okay, as we filmed a long establishing shot of the rainy area and some thunder and rain sound effects. By doing this, we establish to the viewer ...

Because of the constant windy conditions that we faced, we were forced to record external audio and dub it into our film. We went through each scene line by line, and recorded all of the actors saying their lines outdoors.  We used a field recorder microphone on a tripod to capture the audio. We wrapped a tea towel around the mic to reduce any wind and background noise.  For dubbing, we got a calm day, which helped immensely when recording the audio. As the writer, I played a vital role in this session, as I copied up all of the lines needed and printed out copies for our actors. for long shots, we made the actors stand a further distance from the mic for a better effect. We were all pleased with this session as the actors did amazingly in matching up with the visuals and delivering lines with conviction.

We filmed the scene with the limbo character scene, the message scene and most of the ending scene in one day.  There was a lot of wind a lot of audio to become unusable even though we tried to prevent it as much as possible.Other than that, t he weather clear and bright and made the  shots  very  nice looking and consistent .  Aaron featured a lot in these scenes, as he played the Limbo scene and Kevin's friend. For the limbo, we recorded audio of him making weird noises. The second character he played was Kevin's "friend" who died before him, he leaves an emotional message that makes creates an emotional atmosphere. Thus, this character was more emotionally demanding while  acting, so he made upset in order to create a realistic emotion. He went off the script I wrote as it felt more natural to speak off the cuff.

On this day, we were able to complete the scenes of The Ferryman at home, due to the bad weather, we were forced to do mostly indoor scenes today. We filmed numerous shots of Ron preparing for the day, and we plan to use elliptical editing to speed up this portion of the film, while also adding our own style; both in directorial and editing. These scenes were filmed in Aaron's house. All of the shots filmed today were largely successful. However, we were unable to achieve the perfect takes while filming in John's house, with each shot appearing somewhat grainy and off. This issue can be resolved by adding an anti-noise effect in post production. While there were no lines in this scene, being the writer of the screenplay i organised the choreography for the scene and the emotions our main actor should show to feel.

To attract audiences to watch your film, many marketing practices are used to promote the film. To market our film, we are creating a poster that will show what the film will involve whilst also looking attractive and atmospheric. This is the poster for the 1988 Drama Rain Man. It revolves around a rich man whos father suddenly dies, leaving him to look after his autistic older brother, who got a $3 Million inheritance. I believe the main theme this poster represents is companionship. Two, brother, who are very different in their own rights, are forced together into an adventure. This is similar to our film, as both Ron and Kevin are put together unwillingly, yet become companions, even though it is strictly work-based. They seem to be vital characters to the film, as there are the only things featured in the image.  The poster is also quite colourful, with emphasis placed on the contrasting black and white clothing, which suggests difference in personality.
